Biden and the Democrats have ceded the political discussion about feelings and emotions to the GOP.
Many Americans buy into feelings as a substitute for rational analysis; then some vote for tyrants who promise them they will feel good. Some of us are afraid of the future and do not have patience to follow the intricacies of legislation and bureaucratic practice.
It is time to turn the table and speak openly about Biden's feelings on issues that resonate with many Americans.
Of course, Biden can say this: ‘Here is my feeling about an issue, but it does not mean I can change anything without following the law.'
For example: 'I am proud and happy to be your President and an American because I know that Americans can solve any problem when we work together; I think that is how we hope for a better future. But, I am afraid and sad that some in our country are actively working to install a tyranny and overturn our rule of law. I worry that some Americans will try hard to destroy our political process. Some of us are afraid for our future and then follow a false creed that promises to solve all our problems. I am saddened that the politicians who promise to fix those issues are the very politicians who want to keep the problem alive so they can make more money.'
A few issues that may benefit from that approach include immigration, police brutality, gun control, inflation, abortion, LGBT folks, unemployment, homelessness, monopolies, billionaires, Russia, Supreme Court, etc., etc.
It is a mistake to avoid the emotions around each such issue in favor of working ONLY on real solutions; we have to do both.
