It is an unusual want for me; I am not normally motivated by money rewards for any task. I do things because I want to.
But, hey, billionaires are just very ordinary people with a lot more creature comforts - except for the pathological greed part.
So, I want to be me, but with a Billion.
What to do?
Well, there are about 330 million people in the USA. If I ask each of them for a paltry $3.03 per capita, then I'd have my billion.
But I kinda doubt that everyone will give me anything, not even $3.03.
That means I have to steal it, $3.03 each from 330 million people.
Pretty sure, they won't miss it; it's only $3.03.
How can I steal $3.03?
Maybe I can come up with an app that everybody will use, especially when I give away the app for free.
Probably I can't steal $3.03 from all the users, but I can sell ads to commercial interests. And, maybe I can sell the personal data on my users to the advertisers. I wonder if that is against the law.
Maybe I can reduce the number of people I have to steal from if I can get more from each user.
Combining the ad revenue with the data sales, I bet I can get at least $10.00 from each of a hundred million app users.
Presto, there's my Billion. And, even better, that happens every year.
Wait, that's a lot of work. I do not want to work, just collect the cash.
Maybe I can create a Corporation and sell stock in the corporation to get my billion [measured on the short scale of 1,000 million or 10 to the ninth power]
That might work, and it is a lot easier.
Publicly traded shares sell on the stock exchanges for a multiple of the earning or profits of the company. Let's say that investors like my company so much that they will buy my shares at 20 times my earnings per share. So then, all I have to earn is $50 mill and then issue 50 million shares. My earnings of $50 million equates to each share earning one dollar. Then the price is $20.00 per share. And, earning $50 mil is a lot easier than earning $1.0 Billion
So then, how many shares do I have to sell to get my Billion?
Seems it's just a paltry 50 million shares with an EPS of $1.00 and a PE multiple of 20 times. THERE's my Billion !
The even better news is that once I get my war chest of a Billion, then I can make sure there are no laws or regulations to interfere with my profits.
