It has been suggested that California is no longer a good place to live due to the recent fires. And, Californians will pull up stakes and move to safer areas.
No.
We are staying.
When you live here, you know you have droughts, fires, floods, earthquakes and other assorted issues. BUT, it's such a gorgeous place that you adjust your mind and live here.
We Californians fix it so it's livable.
No water, no problem. We'll bring water from the Colorado River to Los Angeles.
'The Colorado River Aqueduct, or CRA, is a 242 mi (389 km) water conveyance in Southern California in the United States, operated by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD). The aqueduct impounds water from the Colorado River at Lake Havasu on the California-Arizona border west across the Mojave and Colorado deserts to the east side of the Santa Ana Mountains. It is one of the primary sources of drinking water for Southern California.' wikipedia.
Earthquakes, we can deal.
'Brace & Bolt
The Brace + Bolt Expansion is ....assist[ing] homeowners in decreasing the potential for damage to their houses during an earthquake. A residential seismic retrofit strengthens an existing house, making it more resistant to earthquake activity such as ground shaking and soil failure, by bolting the house to its foundation and adding bracing around the perimeter of the crawl space.' Climate change fires? It's new, so we will figure it out.
'As homeowners begin to rebuild after the recent wildfires, there are a few basic architectural design decisions that will greatly improve the chances that their home will survive the next wildfire.' [Murray Milne, Research Professor of Architecture, UCLA - http://www.energy-design-tools.aud.ucla.edu/FIRES.html]
Municipalities will change building codes to account for the danger. Entrepreneurs will create an industry of preparing existing houses for fires. Lots of new jobs.
BTW, if you think climate change is a hoax, then just crawl into an abandoned coal mine and enjoy your days.
