A new study shows that we are releasing more tons of CO2 into the atmosphere now than occurred in the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM) of 66 million years ago.
Here is a quote from the study: 'A few species went extinct, and some had to migrate in order to stay in environments conducive to their lives.'
Carbon is being released into the atmosphere today ten times faster than it was during the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM), a period that has been considered the closest recent analogue to today's human-caused global warming, according to new research.
